Following Atticus: Forty-Eight High Peaks, One Little Dog, and an Extraordinary Friendship goes on sale on September 20, 2011. It's available wherever books are sold. (Or, as my friend Bob, who sells books tells me, "Wherever fine books are sold." You can also pre-order from your local indie bookseller or at any of the on-line stores: www.barnesandnoble.com; www.amazon.com; www.powells.com; etc...
Also, the good ladies at White Birch Books in North Conway (our local book store) are taking orders for personalized inscriptions that will be signed by me and stamped with Atticus's paw print. These is great for those of you who want a signed copy but cannot get to one of our stops on our book tour. You can find information on our book tour on our HarperCollins page here. And those who order from pre-order from White Birch Books will be entered into a drawing to win a Following Atticus t-shirt. The shirts are not for sale (although they may be some day). We're giving them away during our tour.

I really loved this book. I reviewed it on my blog:

Tom, I hope your book sells many copies!
Atticus, this is for you: You're a cutie! You are a rock star!
Tom and Atticus -- good luck on the book tour, which I think starts today! We look forward to meeting you both at one of these events and reading the book. Happy Travels.
ReplyDeleteI could not put down 'Following Atticus'. You are a fantastic writer and story teller Tom. Congratulations on all of your new found and future success be it through the book or a day alone in the mountains.
ReplyDeleteAs I've said many times - an absolute pleasure to meet you both.
Louis
Just got it and sent copies to friends. I live in Bartlett on a small piece of land surrounded by woods, looking out at sculptures of three dimensional mountains where the river flows at their feet. Spectacular!
ReplyDeleteI hope that Tom uses his great love for dogs and nature to encourage readers( perhaps even himself ) to consider joining us in the animal rights movement who see how other beings who are just as cute, smart, intuitive, and feeling as Atticus, are being horribly abused.
One of the greatest shames of modern humanity is our lack of humanity regarding the suffering of animals we cast off as "food."
For ten years I've been haunted at how people so love and protect their dogs(except those who breed and breed while millions are euthanized each year or neglect, hoard, abuse their animals)while closing their eyes and hearts to the mass suffering of cows, pigs, turkeys( www.meatvideo.com or www.meetyourmeat.com )and other sentient creatures. It's so distressing and I can't fathom the pain they feel, fear they experience, and so young when they are forced to their premature deaths.
Please Tom, encourage people to go vegan. The recipes are endless, the food is healthier, and no animals are forced to suffer unimaginable pain for the things that make us sick anyway.
Congrats! Love the mountains! Nice work. Please follow my blog @ thechocoaholic.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI was hoping you'd be Blogger's Blog of Note -- and you are!
ReplyDeleteGreat work! Hope it helps you sell more books!
I haven't got the chance to read your book but after seeing a review based on the comment above, it sure sounds a very worthwhile book to read.
ReplyDeleteReally heartwarming stuff. Check out spuriouspublishing.blogspot.com for a small bit of a laugh.

Congrats on being a blog of note and on your book. I am a New Hampshire Native and hope to find this book at my local toadstool.
ReplyDeleteHi! I’m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
