Let's Hear It For The Cats

We've finally heard from some cat lovers and two of the mountains we will hike in the first round this winter are in memory of two wonderful cats, Karla Ruzicka's Samantha; and Kim and Rick Caston's Cannon. We would love to hear from some more cat owners, especially since Atticus has met plenty a cat bigger than himself. And speaking of cats, while it's not uncommon to see dogs hiking in the White Mountains, particularly in the fairer months, in his book Wandering Through The White Mountains, Steve Smith writes of a Bonds Traverse he did with his wife Carol. In the middle of their 19 mile hike, smack dab in the middle of the Pemi Wilderness Steve and Carol came face-to-face with a fellow who was hiking with his cat. True story.
