Following Atticus: Forty-Eight High Peaks, One Little Dog, and an Extraordinary Friendship by Tom Ryan is published by William Morrow. It tells the story of my adventures with Atticus M. Finch, a little dog of some distinction. You can also find our column in the NorthCountry News.

The Carter Boys Get Some Love; And We Reach A Goal

Yee-Haw! One of our goals has been reached now that an anonymous donor has dedicated both Middle Carter and South Carter. And better yet, both have been dedicated to birds, our first birds so far! This completes the ded- ications for round one of the 48. But not to worry as round two is now open for dedica- tions and all mountains are vacant at this time. Soon a new list of available peaks will be posted. So if you have a hankering to give the perfect gift for that hard to buy for animal lover on your holiday list, give a peak in honor of their pet; they'll love it...the person that is, not the pet. Thanks to all who have helped Atticus and myself reach this one fundraising goal of having each of the first 48 peaks dedicated before winter starts. For the record, Middle Carter and South Carter are being dedicated to two Dusky Conures, Jebss and Eva. Middle Carter goes to Eva, and South goes to Jebss. (By the way, that's Atticus on a hike to the Carters from two winters ago with Washington behind him.)
