Following Atticus: Forty-Eight High Peaks, One Little Dog, and an Extraordinary Friendship by Tom Ryan is published by William Morrow. It tells the story of my adventures with Atticus M. Finch, a little dog of some distinction. You can also find our column in the NorthCountry News.

Goal: Have Each of the 29 Remaining 4,000-Footers Dedicated to a Pet Before Winter Starts

Thanks to recent dedications in the last couple of days we are inching closer to the goal of having each of the 48 4,000-foot peaks dedicated to a pet before winter starts on December 22nd. There are only 17 days to go and 29 peaks left unsponsored during the first round. It would be great to have round one completely filled by the time we start hiking. Thanks to Dorothy Fairweather's recent dedication, there are now three peaks being hiked for felines. (Thank you, Dorothy.) Up above you will see Wilson, Doug and Lorrie Locy's Airedale romping on Plum Island. This is where Atticus and I got to know "Willie" and Doug a few years back. It's always good to have one of Atti's friends having a peak donated to him and we'll be hiking Jefferson for Wilson.
